The built-in dual-band WIFI feature allows the ROVE R3 dash cam to pair with your smartphone, enabling you to access the dash cam’s features remotely on your phone.
YES, you can view the live recording of your dash cam remotely on your smartphone using the all-new ROVE app’s Live section. The only condition is you have to be within 10 FT from the camera with no obstruction in the middle. As soon as you move out of the 10 FT range, you will not see any live feed. Like any other standard dash cams, this is how ROVE R3’s WiFi works.
YES, your ROVE R3 dash cam can be Hardwired.
Hardwiring your R3 is necessary in order to activate and enjoy its 24HR parking monitor feature. We recommend using ROVE’s own original Ultimate 3-lead Hardwire Kit because it is designed explicitly for R3 and comes with an additional ‘Voltage Cut-Off’ feature, preventing your vehicle’s battery drainage.
Here is the link for the ROVE Ultimate 3-lead Hardwire Kit:
https://www.rovedashcam.com/3-lead Hardwire Kit/
YES, the ROVE R3 can record speed.
R3 has a built-in GPS feature to track and record the vehicle's speed and location. You will find a speed stamp at the bottom of every footage showing how fast you were driving. You can use this later as evidence if needed. The speed will always be stamped on the video as long as the STAMPS feature is ON.
ROVE R3’s default WIFI password is ‘12345678’.
If you get WIFI’s password error, Make sure you enter the correct password. Reconfirm the current WiFi password of your dash cam by checking the camera’s screen. The current WiFi password will appear on the screen when you turn on the WiFi feature. It will be displayed after PWA2: ********
ROVE R3 is fitted with a built-in microphone to record audio with the video.
You can MUTE/UNMUTE the video by going to the camera’s video setting > Record Audio > Choose ON/OFF or by simply tapping the microphone icon on the menu settings.
You can find your R3 dash cam’s serial number in two places. The first is the camera's base/bottom part, and the second is its actual box from where it came.
Setting the correct date and time on your R3 dash cam is quite easy. Follow one of the following steps below:
1. You can set the correct date and time of your choice manually by going to your dash cam’s System Settings and then the ‘Date/Time’ option.
2. You can also set GMT/UTC time-zone value instead. Setting this will enable the dash cam to select the correct date and time automatically, based on the GMT/UTC value selection when it receives a GPS signal lock.
We ALWAYS recommend following the second step, which is setting the GMT/UTC value, because once you set your correct GMT Value under the Time Zone Setting, you will always have the valid date and time whenever you have a GPS signal lock.
We ALWAYS recommend following the second step, which is setting the GMT/UTC value, because once you set your correct GMT Value under the Time Zone Setting, you will always have the valid date and time whenever you have a GPS signal lock.
You can find your correct GMT Value by visiting this link.
https://greenwichmeantime.com/time-zone/usa/
**NOTE: You may not get the correct date and time right away if you try inside your home because the dash cam will not be able to receive a GPS signal; thus, you have to wait until you go to your car and receive a GPS signal. Once your camera gets the GPS signal, you will always have the correct date and time.
Unfortunately, the dash cam has no option to ZOOM IN/OUT the image details with the current firmware version. Our experts are already working on adding this option to the camera on the next firmware update.
In the meantime, we have TWO ways to do this.
1. ZOOM IN ON YOUR SMARTPHONE:
You can view the recorded video files using the ROVE App remotely on your iPhone/Android. You can download that video to the ROVE App first and then use the SHARE button to save that video to your device's photo album. You can then play that video directly from your phone’s video player and easily zoom in or out and view the details you need.
2. ZOOM IN ON YOUR PC:
Connect the camera directly to your Mac/PC by using the included 1M USB to Type-C data cable and select "Connect as USB Flash Drive". Once connected there are two ways, either you can play the video on the GPS Player then pause the frame and take a snapshot, and then you can zoom in on the saved photo and view the details.
OR You can also use the VLC media player and zoom in/out on the video by using the features of the VLC media player.
You can download the VLC media player free at www.videolan.org
Unfortunately, NO. The memory card is NOT included in the package of the ROVE R3 dash cam.
You need to purchase it separately.
We recommend using ROVE Ultimate Micro SD Card class 10, U3 speed Micro-SD card for its quality, durability, and faster read and write speed required for quality video recording.
You can purchase the memory card from our website or click here to buy one: ROVE Ultimate Micro SD Card
Some iOS versions have bugs that don't allow our APP to be connected to IoT (Internet of things) devices like this dash cam using cellular data and Wi-Fi simultaneously. Therefore, we suggest that you please turn OFF the cellular data when using the app, then the connection with R3 and the new ROVE APP will improve significantly.
ROVE R2-4K is a plug and play device and ready to record by default settings right out of the box.
Setting it up is just quick and easy.
To install the camera all you have to do is:
1. Insert the memory card in the camera and then format it before first-time use.
2. Now slide the suction mount on the mounting assembly on top of the camera.
3. Now plug in the USB cable to the camera and simply press the suction mount on your windshield and while pressing the suction mount, turn the locking knob of suction mount form unlock position to the lock position. This will make the camera mounted on your car's windshield. Then the last step is to connect the 12V cigarette power port to your cigarette lighter.
That's it, the camera is now all set and ready to go.
TO INSERT:
Make sure the camera is turned OFF first. Then align the GOLD contacts facing towards the front of the camera (Lens Side).
Then insert the memory card halfway in. Use your FINGERNAIL or PAPERCLIP to push the card all the way in until it clicks and locks in place.

Unfortunately, NO. It can NOT be used to live stream the video feed via IP to another side of the device. It is NOT an IP camera.
The camera's built-in WiFi feature is ONLY to pair your dash cam with your smartphone.
You can live stream video from the dash cam via WiFi paring to your smartphone, but you have to be within 10 FT from the camera with no obstruction in the middle.
So as soon as you go out of 10FT range, you will NOT see any live feed.
Like other dash cams, this is how ROVE R2-4K WiFi feature work.
YES, it can be hardwired.
If you are into a hardwiring setup, you can purchase any hardwire kit with battery voltage meter protection and a MINI-USB connection.
We recommend using our own ROVE Ultimate 3-lead Hardwire kit to utilize the 24HR Auto Trigger Parking Mode feature of the camera.
Here is the link for our ROVE Ultimate 3-lead Hardwire kit:
https://www.rovedashcam.com/products/rove-ultimate-3-lead-mini-usb-hard-wire-kit-for-dash-cam
YES, it sure can.
ROVE R2-4K has a Speed Stamp feature so the speed will show up on your video at the bottom when you view it later as a proof of how fast you were driving.
It will always be stamped on the video as long as the STAMPS feature is ON.
If the password is not working, then you can do two things.
1. Please check the current WiFi password of your camera by checking the camera's LCD.
The WiFi password is shown on the LCD when you turn on the WiFi. It will be shown after PWA2: ********
2. If the password has been changed, then please go to system settings and set the camera to default settings, which will make the WiFi password back to 12345678.
After you do this, you will need to make the ROVE WiFi forget on your smartphone and then start all over again.
Otherwise, you will not be able to connect the WiFi.
The Serial Number is located at the bottom part of the camera or at the actual box where it came from.
So Serial numbers can be seen;
1) At the bottom part of the camera
2) Box
ROVE R2-4K has a built-in microphone to record audio with video.
You can choose to record either MUTE/UNMUTE video by going to the camera Video Settings > Record Audio > Choose ON/OFF.
SHORTCUT: You can also press the UP button to MUTE/UNMUTE while the video is being recorded.
With the current firmware, the camera has no menu to ZOOM in/out the image details.
Having said that, we are already working on adding this menu on the next firmware update.
In the meantime, we have TWO ways to do this.
1. ZOOM IN ON YOUR SMARTPHONE:
You can view your recorded video files by utilizing the ROVE App on your Android/iPhone. You can download that video to the ROVE App first and then use the SHARE button to save that video to your iPhone/Android's photo album. You can play that video directly from your phone and can easily zoom in and view the details that you need.
2. ZOOM IN ON YOUR PC:
- Connect the camera directly to your PC by using the SHORT USB data cable and select ""Connect as USB Flash Drive"". You can use either the GPS Player then pause the frame and use the camera button to take a snapshot and then you can zoom in on the saved photo.
- You can also utilize the VLC media player and zoom in on the video by using the features of the VLC media player.
You can download the VLC media player free at www.videolan.org
"As far as time setting is concerned, that is an easy fix.
All you have to do is set the correct time zone setting instead of the actual date and time.
To ALWAYS have correct DATE & TIME, Please do NOT set the date and time manually from the camera's system settings. Instead, all you have to do is set the correct GMT Value based on your location under the TIME ZONE SETTING by going into the camera's system settings.
You can find your correct GMT Value by visiting this link.

ROVE R2-4k dash cam is only a SINGLE channel camera so it does NOT have the capability to do dual type of recording. (Front and Back)
Many of our customers love purchasing two of the ROVE R2-4K dash cameras because this will give you same 4K video front and back.
You just have to provide power to the rear camera and you are all set.
Because when you purchase a dual camera, the rear camera resolution is lower such as only VGA or 720P and not a good night vision because you are running two cameras with a single processor and only with a 4MP sensor with a 2MP sensor for the rear only. Which will NOT give you a good image quality?
Many of our customers end up purchasing two of the ROVE camera, one for front and one for the back, that why you have full 4K resolution and amazing night vision front and rear for almost the same price. Hope this makes sense.
Some good dual cameras are also 1080P front and 1080P rear, but they are about $200 and the resolution is still not as close to what ROVE R2-4K has to offer.
So with ROVE, you can get two cameras for about the same price and that way you have upscaled camera with ultra HD video resolution front and rear.
ROVE R2-4K has an internal battery which is very small and is only meant to last 3-5 minutes only when it is fully charged.
It is NOT meant to last more than 3-5 minutes on purpose. NO matter which brand of dash cam you will buy, their internal battery will be no different.
Why is the internal battery is NOT meant to last more than 3-5 min in-dash cameras?
All the dash cameras are designed this way due to fire safety. If we place a larger battery into the camera such as our smartphones, then during the summer days the temperature inside the car can exceed the limit which can cause the battery to explode and can cause a fire. Therefore due to the fire safety, we can't place larger batteries in the dash cameras.
Why do some dash cameras have an internal battery?
- The internal battery is only there to support a few small functions such as to provide enough power to save the last video file when the power gets disconnected.
- PARKING MODE: Parking mode lets you record 1-min video on an internal battery, if someone hits your car when you are not in your car, then if the impact triggers parking mode, then the camera will turn ON and start recording for 1-min on an internal battery, then it will SAVE & LOCK that video, then the cameras turns itself OFF automatically. (Remember, Parking Mode lets you record a 1-min video every time, and your internal battery can provide power up to 5-minutes when fully charged. So, up to 5-cycles of parking modes, however, let's hope that no one will hit your car more than once in a day... 😀)
Another thing to keep in mind that the higher the resolution you choose the more power it will consume hence it will last a short amount of time. The same way if you choose the lower resolution, such as 1080P @ 30fps, then the camera should last about 4-5 min when fully charged (Most likely longer than 5-minutes, as some customers have reported up to 8 or 9 minutes)
Therefore the dash camera should always be plugged into the power all the time for its operation.
If your memory card becomes FULL and the camera STOPS recording then that means you may have set the Loop Cycle recording to 4GB Max option which means the loop cycle is OFF.
This is an easy fix. All you have to do is format the memory card by going into the camera’s system settings & then make sure to set your loop cycle recording feature to either 1, 3, 5 or 10-min. Which means the loop cycle is ON.
Please also make sure to backup important videos before formatting your memory card.
WHAT IS LOOP CYCLE FEATURE AND HOW DOES IT WORK?
This feature allows for your camera to delete the oldest video files first automatically so the newest video files can be written over and over again automatically in a seamless loop way without you needing to delete the videos manually.
4GB MAX = LOOP CYCLE is OFF
- When you set this option, the camera will record one big file up to 4GB in size maximum depending upon the video resolution you choose.
- And the camera will continue to record the new videos until your memory card becomes full. When the memory card becomes full, the camera will give you a message ""CARD FULL"" and it will STOP recording further until you either delete the videos or format the card manually to make more room for the new videos again.
Therefore, if you don't want this to happen then,
1, 3, 5 or 10-min = LOOP CYCLE is ON
- Set the LOOP Cycle function to either 1, 3, 5 or 10-min so the camera can delete the oldest files automatically so it can write new videos over and over again without you needing to delete the videos manually.
- Your video files will be split into the selected video length accordingly. (i.e. If you set the loop cycle to 1-min, then all your video files will be 1-min each)
If the camera freeze up and NO buttons are responding, then please press the RESET button at the bottom of the camera ONCE with either paper clip or the tip of the pen and this will restart the camera.
In the meanwhile, it is possible that it is a MEMORY CARD issue (NOT a camera issue) - Please Contact US.

As far as WiFi is concerned, we really do NOT advise to change the Wifi password/ Wifi name because as soon you turn on the wifi from your camera, your WiFi password should automatically appear on your screen so it really doesn't matter what password you choose.
However, if you still prefer to change the Wifi password, here are the steps for it.
1. Make sure to ONLY use English letters and numbers only. Do NOT use special characters and letter and numbers to NOT exceed more than 8 total.
2. After you change the password, turn OFF the wifi from the camera.
3. Then, completely close the ROVE App from your Android/iPhone.
4. Turn ON the wifi from the dash cam.
5. Then, go to SETTINGS > WIFI on your smartphone > Look for ROVE R2-4K Wifi > Make the WIFI FORGET from your smartphone. Now turn OFF the wifi and turn it back ON again from the dash cam.
6. Now, reconnect the ROVE R2-4K wifi and your smartphone should ask you for the new password that you changed. (The new password is shown on the LCD of the camera.)
7. Now you can use the new password to make the connection between your dash cam and your smartphone.
8. Once the wifi is connected, simply open the ROVE App and it should work fine.
If you try to change the password to anything but 8 characters and numbers then the camera will freeze up. This a known issue to us and we are remaking our ROVE App for better user experience and it's coming out soon.

- Your video files will be split into the selected video length accordingly. (i.e. If you set the loop cycle to 1-min, then all your video files will be 1-min each)
ROVE R2-4K has LCD ON/OFF Setting feature.
This feature allows you to select the time duration for the camera's screen to be turned OFF after the camera started.
It was developed to make it a less distraction when driving especially during night time.
How to turn ON/OFF this feature?
MANUAL WAY:
You can just easily PRESS the DOWN button ONCE to turn ON/OFF the LCD screen while in video mode anytime or while the video is being recorded.
AUTOMATICALLY:
If you prefer your camera's LCD screen to go blank when there are no buttons are pressed for 1-minute, then you can set it up by going to the System Settings>Scroll DOWN until you see the Screensaver Setting> Press the OK button to enter the sub menu> Select LCD OFF After 1-Min.
(NOTE: Only the LCD screen will be turned OFF, the camera is still operational)
We apologize that we don't have this part specifically drawn up. Soon, we will make this happen in our user manual. We always take a good opportunity to improve our instruction manual and products.
In the meantime, below are the details on how much time is stored on the memory card in the loop feature:
For 32GB Memory Card
- 4K 2880x 2160 @ 24fps: 2hr 40min
- Full HD 1920x1080 @ 60fps: 3hr 13min
- 1280x720 @ 120fps: 3hr 13min
For 64GB Memory Card
- 4K 2880x 2160 @ 24fps: 5hr 20min
- Full HD 1920x1080 @ 60fps: 6hr 27min
- 1280x720 @ 120fps: 6hr 27min
For 128GB Memory Card
- 4K 2880x 2160 @ 24fps: 10hr 40min
- Full HD 1920x1080 @ 60fps: 12hr 54min
- 1280x720 @ 120fps: 12hr 54min
For 256GB Memory Card
- 4K 2880x 2160 @ 24fps: 22hr 20min
- Full HD 1920x1080 @ 60fps: 25hr 48min
- 1280x720 @ 120fps: 25hr 48min
For 512GB Memory Card
- 4K 2880x 2160 @ 24fps: 44hr 40min
- Full HD 1920x1080 @ 60fps: 51hr 16min
- 1280x720 @ 120fps: 51hr 16min
These are approximate but close, give or take a few mins depending on the memory card.
The lower the resolution, the more it will hold, and the higher the resolution the less it will hold.
A polarizer filter is required to remove glares from videos.
You can purchase a CPL (Circular Polarizing Filter), and apply in front of the lens to get rid of the reflection from the dashboard.
We don't have exact size CPL for ROVE R2-4K, however, if you can be little handy, you can use this one. Many of our customers have used this and they love it.
Please see this youtube video. https://youtu.be/O71yymGIhu4

Due to the lens and GPS, the camera's mount will not work properly for an almost flat windshield (verticle).
It needs at least a 20° slope/angle for it to mount properly.
To remedy this, you can do one of the few things:
1. Mount the camera on the dashboard upside-down -- with the current camera's software, there is a new feature under the Video Settings called Rotate video. This feature allows you to flip your video 180 degrees to have the correct side of the image still when the camera is mounted upside-down.
2. Few of our customers are using this universal mount from Amazon for their RV truck with an almost flat windshield.
Here is the link:

YES, sure you can. ROVE R2-4K comes with a 360-degree rotational mount (suction and sticky), so you can easily turn your camera 360 degrees OR at your preferred angle position if you need to record video at your side window or inside your vehicle.
YES, you sure can delete only the lock videos or single video.
You can do so by three different ways.
(1) FROM CAMERA DIRECTLY.
a. First, you need to unlock the locked video before deleting it.
b. Go to the PLAYBACK Mode by pressing and holding the Menu button for 2-3 seconds twice and scroll each video.
c. When you see the locked video you would like to delete, press the OK button to select it and press the Menu button to go to the Playback Settings. (the locked video has a key icon on it)
d. Go to Protect setting and select "Unlock Current", and then go to Delete and select "Delete Current" to remove the specific video.
(2) USING YOUR iPhone or Android phone.
Connect the camera to your smartphone via Wi-Fi feature and use the ROVE App to delete specific video/s.
(3) USING YOUR PC/MAC
Insert your camera’s micro-SD card into the PC/MAC. Your locked videos are saved under the RO folder or Read-Only. Select the locked video you want to delete and press the Delete button on your keyboard or right-click the file and select “Delete.”
The new ROVE R2-4K can now support up to 512GB MAX size of memory card.
We recommend ROVE Ultimate Micro SD Card Class 10, a U3 speed memory card for its quality, durability, and faster read and write speed for 4K video recordings.
Almost all our customers use this card and they never complained about it. You can purchase it from our website easily or click here to buy one: ROVE Ultimate Micro SD Card

Here's the card we recommend.
ROVE Ultimate Micro SD Card
YES, you sure can.
To change the speed unit to KM, please go to the Video Settings > Scroll down until you see Speed Unit option and select your preferred speed unit.
The ROVE R2-4K dash cam has 2 parking features. They are the Classic Parking Mode and the 24-HR Auto Trigger Parking Mode.
These features are two different features. They also act and work differently based on different needs.
Classic Parking Mode:
This feature allows your camera to record 1-min video on an internal battery if someone hits your vehicle when it is parked or when it is unattended, then if the impact triggers the G-Sensor, then the camera will turn ON and start recording for 1-min on an internal battery, then it will SAVE & LOCK that video, then the camera turns itself OFF automatically.
Now when you turn ON your vehicle again the camera will give you voice alert stating Parking Mode got activated while you were away.
The locked video will be saved under the RO or Read-Only folder.
You can check the saved and locked video either on the camera's Playback Mode, on your smartphone, or directly to your PC/MAC.
24-HR Auto Trigger Parking Mode:
PLEASE NOTE: ROVE’s custom-designed 3-Lead Hardwire Kit is required to use this new feature. You can purchase separately through this link: https://www.rovedashcam.com/products/rove-ultimate-3-lead-mini-usb-hard-wire-kit-for-dash-cam
OPTIONS:
- OFF
- Time-Lapse 1fps & G-Sensor
- Motion Detection & G-Sensor
We have custom designed this feature as many of our valued customers have requested. They have always asked us why you can’t design the parking mode or motion detection that can go into parking mode automatically. We are thrilled to inform you that we have developed this feature even better than you have requested. Thank you for your support and suggestions.
Time-Lapse 1fps & G-Sensor: (See how this feature works)
1. When this feature is set to ON and ROVE’s 3-Lead Hardwire Kit is installed properly.
2. Then, when you turn OFF the car’s engine and turn the key to the lock position.
3. Then the camera will STOP the continuous video recording and it will go into the time lapse 1fps recording mode automatically.
4. Now while this time-lapse is being recorded, If someone hits your car and if the impact reaches the set G-Sensor level, then the camera will stop the time lapse video > then it will start to record 1-min continuous video, save & lock that video in RO folder > then return to recording the time lapse 1fps.
(When the Parking Mode got activated, the camera will give you voice alert stating “Parking Mode got activated while you were away” when you turn ON your car the next time. If you hear this, you should check the locked videos to see what happened.)
5. Now when you start your car for the next time, the camera will automatically STOP the time lapse 1fps & G-Sensor parking mode. Then it will go into normal video mode automatically to start the continuous video recording.
Motion Detection & G-Sensor: (See how this feature works)
1. When this feature is set to ON and ROVE’s 3-Lead Hardwire Kit is installed properly.
2. Then, when you turn OFF the car’s engine and turn the key to the lock position.
3. Then the camera will STOP the continuous video recording and it will go into the motion detection mode and the camera will stay ON and idle, but LCD will be off after some seconds.
4. Now the camera will only record video when it detects motion in front of the FOV of the camera and then it will record until there is no more motion is detected.
5. Now while the camera stays in Motion Detection mode, if someone hits your car and if the impact reaches the set G-Sensor level, then the camera will stop the motion detection mode > then it will start to record 1-min continuous video, save & lock that video in RO folder > then return back to the motion detection mode.
(When the Parking Mode got activated, the camera will give you voice alert stating “Parking Mode got activated while you were away” when you turn ON your car the next time. If you hear this, you should check the locked videos to see what happened.)
6. Now when you start your car for the next time, the camera will automatically STOP the motion detection & G-Sensor parking mode, and it will go back into normal video mode automatically to start the continuous video recording.
YES, you can set your preferred hour format by going to the camera’s System Settings.
Also, to always have the correct time and date, we strongly suggest that you set the correct GMT value under the Time zone Settings.

"Unfortunately, NO.
Like other dash cams, this is how ROVE R1 WiFi feature work.

"ROVE R1 has a supercapacitor.
It does NOT have an internal battery.
Therefore the dash camera should always be plugged into the power all the time for its operation."
"If your memory card becomes FULL and the camera STOPS recording then that means you may have set the Loop Cycle recording to OFF.
LOOP CYCLE is OFF
- When you set this option, the camera will record one big file continuously until the camera turns OFF.
- And the camera will continue to record videos until your memory card becomes full.
(i.e. If you set the loop cycle to 1-min, then all your video files will be 1-min each)"
Please make sure you charge camera for 6 hours before first use. Make sure memory card is inserted properly. Then plug in power cable which should turn on the camera and it should start recording.
Format Micro SD card by going into system setting > formats > OK > Select Yes > OK. (Make sure to back up your videos before formatting if you need them) Then Go to Video Mode settings > Split Record Mode > Choose either 1-min, 3-min, 5-min. This will allow loop cycle function to be turned ON and it will keep recording over and over. See user manual for more details.
Please make sure you are only using brand name class 10 or above Micro SD card. Be careful about fake memory cards in the market. If it was super cheap then probably it is fake. Insert a paper clip into reset. Restart with another microSD card and try again. Contact us if the problem still persists.
Please make sure the lens of the camera is clean and there is no dirt on windshield also. Make sure to clean car's windshield with proper cleaner from the inside (to remove fog) & outside (to remove dirt).
It is normal for your camera to run slightly hot. Our batteries are certified Pony Lab tested for withstanding higher heat resistance to prevent damage to the camera. Please see temperature guidelines in your user manual. You can also download/view user manual from our website.
lease reset your camera by inserting a paper clip into the reset slot while the camera is turned ON. This will clear any software glitches. Restore settings to factory default by going into camera's system settings. Now try recording and see if this solves the problem. Please make sure that "Motion Detection" is set to OFF. Also please make sure "Parking Mode" is also set to OFF. Contact us if the problem still persists.
Your ROVE Dash Cam has split record mode. When it is set to either 1,3 or 5-min, it will delete the oldest video files over and over to continuously record seamlessly loop by loop without you having to delete old video files manually. This is the reason your old video files are missing. You can turn OFF loop cycle function to record one long continuous video file according to the capacity of your Micro SD card. Please note that if you select loop cycle function to OFF then the camera will give you message "Card Full" when it's out of memory and it will not record any further until you either insert a new memory card or delete/format existing memory card to make space to record again.
Please make sure you stop recording video first by pressing OK button. Then Press MENU button to enter specific mode menus. See user manual for more details.
Please make sure you increase your G-sensor setting. If you choose HIGH setting then it can trigger even with a smaller bump. If you choose LOW setting then it will take a lot of force to activate G-Sensor Accelerometer. So please set the setting accordingly. This setting depends on the type of car or truck you are driving and how much vibration your car/truck is creating based on suspensions and road condition.
Please make sure you align Micro SD card correctly See correct quick start guide for your camera model for more details.
You are viewing high-bit rate version of video files. slower PC may have a problem with faster data processing. Please record videos at a lower resolution and try again. Contact us if the problem still persists.

8. Now plug the front camera’s power cable into the car charger and turn your vehicle on.
That’s it. Now the camera is all set and ready to witness your road activity.
“We highly recommend formatting the memory card before first-time use.”
Please follow these quick and easy steps to format the Micro-SD card:
1. Touch anywhere on your R3’s LCD screen to access the Menu Settings and press the ‘Gear’ icon.
2. Now you will see a Back option, Video Setting, and System Setting appearing on the left side of the screen.
3. Select the System Settings with the ‘Gear’ icon to go to the camera’s system settings.
4. Once you click the System Settings icon, you will see four options appearing on the right of the screen - ( WIFI, WIFI Mode, Format Micro-SD Card, and Time Zone)
5. Select the 3rd option (Format Micro-SD card) from the list.
6. You will see a confirmation message asking to confirm the process of formatting the memory card. Select the ‘Format’ option in green to proceed.
7. When the SD card formatting is completed, you will receive a message saying “Format Successful.”
Here is the link for the ROVE Ultimate 3-lead Hardwire Kit: https://www.rovedashcam.com/3-lead Hardwire Kit/
We recommend using a Samsung class 10, U3 speed Micro-SD card for its quality, durability, and faster read and write speed required for quality video recording.
You can purchase the memory card from Amazon.com

_________________________________________________________________
If NO, then keep reading and follow the instructions below:
- However, even after formatting the memory card, if the camera still gives you an ERROR message stating "Wrong, Bad or Fake Memory Card, Please Contact Us" then most likely the card you received is fake or a slow speed card.
- How to confirm if the card is 100% FAKE and if the camera is NOT defective:
Let's switch to the PHOTO MODE on the camera and then try to take one Photo.
To do so, Long Press M button for 2-seconds to switch to the PHOTO MODE > Once you are in the photo mode > you will see the camera icon on the upper left to confirm that you are in the photo mode & The camera will also say out loud "PHOTO MODE" when you switch to the photo mode.
- Once you are in the photo mode, press the OK button to take the PHOTO. If you hear the shutter sound and if the camera takes a photo then please read below.
If you are able to take the photo with the same memory card, then we just validated a few things.
1. The camera is NOT defective.
2. The memory card that you have is 100% FAKE.
Then skip to the FAKE/DEFECTIVE MEMORY CARD SOLUTION below.

Once you set your correct GMT Value under time zone setting, you will always have the correct date and time whenever you have a GPS signal LOCK.
Please NOTE that you may not get the correct date and time right away if you are trying this inside your home. Because you will NOT get a GPS signal inside your home. So please wait until you go to your car and until you get a GPS signal. Once you get a GPS signal, you will always have the correct date and time every time.
Viewing your videos is just quick and easy. Actually, you have three (3) ways to playback videos.
You can either do this either on the Camera itself, on your Smartphone or on your PC/MAC.
1. You can play the videos from the camera itself by switching to Playback mode.
You can do this by Pressing and holding the M button for two seconds so it will switch from Video mode to Photo mode. > Then Press and hold the M button again to switch from Photo mode to Playback mode >> From here you can watch the videos directly from your camera.
2. You can also connect your smartphone to the camera's WiFi and utilize the ROVE App. Once you are connected on the ROVE App, go to Folder icon on the bottom of the screen. You should be able to view your videos here and check if it does the same thing.
If you have an Android device, then please check out this link on how to connect ANDROIDS to the camera's WiFi.
3. For connecting your camera to your PC/MAC, you can either:
i. Insert your memory card directly to your PC/MAC to view or download them.
ii. You can also use the 2.5 FT USB data cable to connect your camera to your PC. Then select "Connect as USB Flash Drive".
MOTION DETECTION:
Motion detection feature is made for people who want to create surveillance around their car when the car is NOT driving, during the night or when they are not in their car so the camera can record every time if there is a motion in front of the camera.
SHORTCUT:
- You can turn the Motion Detection ON/OFF by short cut. Simply LONG PRESS UP BUTTON for 2-Seconds to turn the motion detection ON or OFF.
FYI:
99% of our customers do NOT use this feature. This is an add ON feature and most customers will simply leave this feature turned OFF.
CAUTION:
Motion detection is NOT meant to be turned ON when you are driving or when the car or the camera is moving. Otherwise, you will have missing video seconds. Please note that when you are on the road and driving, you would want the continuous video recording so you can have all the video proof you need without even missing a single second.
How does Motion Detection work in Dash Cams?
- Well, it does NOT work like the native Infrared LED motion sensing light or other devices would work. (i.e. Home's Driveway Lights)
- Motion Detection in DASH CAMs will work based on the Light Capture Algorithm Change in the camera via back end processing. So basically, the camera will stay ON all the time in the stand by mode detecting if there is any motion (light capture change) in front of the camera?
- Now as soon as someone to close range proximity to the camera starts to move, which makes the light captured by the camera to change (hence, the camera notices that something in front of it is moving) which will trigger the camera to START recording automatically.
- Now, the camera will continue to record until there is NO more motion in front of the camera. Then it will STOP recording and stay in stand by mode (idle mode) until the next motion detection event occurs and triggers the camera.
What you will need if you prefer to use this feature?
ANSWER: Hard-Wiring your dash cam to car's fuse box to always hot/continuous power supply.
NOTE: In order to use the motion detection, the camera must stay in stand by mode, and for the camera to be in stand by mode, it requires a continuous power supply.
- Therefore, you will need to HARD WIRE your dash cam to your car's battery via car's fuse box to always HOT socket which provides continuous power even when car's key is turned OFF/LOCK position.
What should you know before using this feature?
- The camera will NOT turn ON/OFF automatically if you Hard-Wire your dash cam to always hot/continuous power supply. You will have to manually turn ON/OFF your camera.
What SETTINGS do you want to make sure to set for Motion Detection to work properly?
- Auto Power ON/OFF Setting = OFF (Why? because you don't want your camera to turn OFF after either 1, 3 or 5-min. For example, if there is no more motion in front of the camera and if the camera stays idle for either 1, 3 or 5-min, then the camera will turn OFF after either 1, 3 or 5-min as per your setting choice. So always keep this feature set to OFF all the time.
- LCD ON/OFF Setting = Set to either 1, 3 or 5-min (Why? because LCD will be OFF after 1-min, so you can save Power and also it will make your camera as discrete and invisible without any light coming from the LCD)
How to utilize this feature if you prefer to use it?
Okay, here we go.,
So by now, if you have read all the above, you know that motion detection is NOT meant to work when you are driving. It is only meant to work when you are parked and the camera is NOT moving.
Let's say you are driving home from your work and you have Motion Detection turned OFF so you can record continuous video while you are on the road.
Now, when you come home/andy parking lot, you want to turn ON motion detection.
1. Press the OK Button to STOP the video recording first, Then simply LONG PRESS the UP Button for 2-Seconds to turn ON the motion detection. Now turn OFF the car and simply go. The camera will stay ON the whole time assuming you have hard-wired your dash cam to car's fuse box to always hot socket and set the above two settings accordingly. That's it. Now the camera should record when there is a motion in front of the camera in the close proximity and stop recording within a few seconds when there is NO more motion in front of it. Then it will wait until the next motion even occurs.
2. Now, the next day, before you start driving again to your work, You would want to turn OFF the motion detection and START video recording. To do that, please LONG PRESS UP button for 2-Seconds to turn OFF the Motion Detection. Then make sure to start the video recording by pressing the OK button before you start to drive. This way you will have continuous video recording while you are on the road and driving so you don't miss a single second.
3. Then again, when you come home or when you want to turn ON the motion detection, start with step #1 as above and then step #2 over and over again as you prefer.
What is the hardware kit and which one do you recommend?
- A hardwire kit simply allows your dash camera to be connected to your car's fuse box so you can provide continuous power that is required in order to use the motion detection feature.
- A hard-wire kit has three main components.
1. A USB Connector that can be connected to the dash cam. (ROVE R2-4K has mini-USB connection)
2. The other side of the hard-wire kit includes the components that allow you to make the connection into the fuse box.
3. A MOST IMPORTANT component of the hard-wire kit is the battery voltage meter box. This component continuously monitor the battery's voltage, and if the voltage from the car's battery is starting to drop below normal limits that are required for your car's starter to start your car, then this voltage meter box will trip the power supply to the dash cam automatically to prevent the dear car's battery. So you can start your car next time when you need it. Now, once your car's battery's voltage is restored by re-charging it, the hard-wire kit's voltage meter box will resume its function until again the battery's voltage is starting to drop.
This is just a quick and easy.
Please try the following.
1. Please make sure FIRST to turn the cellular data and WiFi calling OFF.
It seems to be ignoring the wifi connecting with ROVE because the ROVE R2-4K doesn't provide internet access, as it only makes a wifi connection between your phone and the camera to only transfer data (not internet).
2. Please turn ON the WiFi from the camera by LONG pressing Emergency Lock Button for 2-seconds to turn the WiFi mode ON from the camera.
3. Now simply JOIN the ROVE R2-4K WiFi by going into your Android phone's Settings > WiFi > ROVE R2-4K WiFi.
4. Then Enter the default WiFi password: 12345678
Once your camera is connected to ROVE WiFi successfully and when you open the ROVE App, the camera will sync automatically. You should see the live video feed from the camera on the ROVE App. Then keep exploring the App from here on.
Please NOTE:
If you are using an Android Phone, then there is one EXTRA step you will have to take to connect your Dash Cam with ROVE R2-4K WiFi.
- When you turn on the WiFi and try to connect your smartphone with ROVE you will see a popup saying "This network has no internet access stay connected?"
Please, check the box, and then make sure to check "Don't ask again for this as you have seen the example in the user manual.
Please check out this video on How to connect ROVE R2-4K Dash Cam's WiFi with your Android Smartphone. - YouTube
1. Please go to the camera's SYSTEM SETTINGS and then set the camera for the DEFAULT SETTING.
2. Now turn ON the WiFi from the camera > Then go to your iPhone’s Settings > WiFi > look for ROVE R2-4K wifi name > then touch the “i” button in blue all the way on the right side of the name.
Now once you touch the “i” button, you will get more options.
3. Now please select the FORGET THIS WiFi.
Once you make the WiFi forget, please close all your apps completely on your iPhone, then restart your iPhone and also the dash camera.
Then start to pair again and this should work. 🙂
LOOP CYCLE Function:
This feature allows for your camera to delete the oldest video files first automatically so the newest video files can be written over and over again automatically in a seamless loop way without you needing to delete the videos manually.
4GB MAX = LOOP CYCLE is OFF
- When you set this option, the camera will record one big file up to 4GB in size maximum depending upon the video resolution you choose.
- And the camera will continue to record the new videos until your memory card becomes full. When the memory card becomes full, the camera will give you a message "CARD FULL" and it will STOP recording further until you either delete the videos or format the card manually to make more room for the new videos again.
(i.e. If you set the loop cycle to 1-min, then all your video files will be 1-min each)
If the camera's buttons are NOT responding, then press the RESET button at the bottom of the camera ONCE with either paper clip or the tip of the pen and this will restart the camera.
This can happen for TWO reasons:
1. You are using wrong or fake memory card.
ROVE dash cam is a high bit-rate 4K video dash cam. Therefore it requires GENUINE, Samsung Class 10, U3 Speed Micro SD Card.
2. Interruption with the camera’s WiFi feature
Once in a while with WiFi it can become freeze, so to prevent this please try the following.
1. Please go to the camera's SYSTEM SETTINGS and then set the camera for the DEFAULT SETTING.
2. Now turn ON the WiFi from the camera > Then go to your smartphone's Settings > WiFi > look for ROVE R2-4K WiFi name > Click on FORGET THIS WiFi.
Once you make the WiFi forget, please close all your apps completely on your smartphone, then restart it and also the dash camera.
Then start to pair again and this should work
In the beginning, it may take a few minutes for the GPS to acquire the signal.
Once it's acquired, you should get a steady signal unless if you are in the dense area of downtown or driving underground, etc. Then you will lose GPS signal.
However, if you are on the open road, then you should get a strong signal and should have GPS-LOCK automatically. If NOT then no worries, this is just a quick and easy.
Please try the following.
1. Please Format your memory card.
2. Set the camera to default settings.
3. Now while the camera is turned on, please press the RESET button at the bottom once with either paper clip or the tip of the pen and this will re-start the camera.
4. Now do not change any setting and stay in the open (NOT in your house or garage), you can keep the camera in your car and start driving. Make sure your camera is not too close to the car's metal frame.
5. Now keep an eye on the GPS icon in the TOP MIDDLE of the LCD. If it's flashing red, then it is looking for GPS signal, and when it stops flashing and in green with curved signal bars, which means you have the GPS lock.
6. When you have a GPS signal, you will see the live speed working on the main LCD screen automatically.
